In this chilly weather - rain, sleet, snow - some great things to do with the little ones is some of our
most memorable moments. Here is a few great things to do with the kids on a those 'not-so-nice' weather days!
The first things we try to do with the kids is always geared toward educational games or activities.
Our kids love the 'science time' we book. Usually after breakfast we get out a few things for a science experiment.
You can use beakers, or glasses, or see through tupperware. Water and food coloring. We also use sponges cut into various shapes and sizes. We use various sizes of other things with different feeling, shapes, and color (the kids love to feel & understand everything around them so be creative.)
I have used lentil beans, macaroni, various kinds of pasta's, oil, vinegar (black) and so on...the list is endless. You can get great quick and easy experiments from some really great websites...just search science experiments for kids or go to our favorite website; "BRAINPOPJR.com"
This is an amazing website for kids that just love to think and learn. Our sons (4 yrs old) logs on and spends about an hour a week playing the learning games & movies. I also great ideas for reading, experiments and other tasks to help the little ones learn away in a fun way!
Here is a great game that helps with the kids eye-hand co-ordination and is also used as a tool for Kinder-ready toddlers;
* Make a mural with different sized shapes. Have your kids cut the shapes and match them to the mural. This helps them practice important cutting skills, gauging sizes, knowing their shapes and them have them color or paint the mural when they are all finished cutting & gluing! Place it on the fridge together (let them choose where they want to put it) See never ending smiles of pride!
* I also tell my little ones what they are learning while they are playing & having fun. (Only because my little one asks me....) He loves to know he is learning....
Anyhow, if you have any great ideas or craft hints, feel free to blog them on.

Busy mom & loven' it!
